Gosh Im just now adjusting to the other side of this life. Mine are 19 and 21 and both living in different cities than each other, and me. I've been split apart and also made whole again in my separation.

It does get easier.

So great to see you back - I love your essays! I too have been away from writing my own posts but have been here every day consuming and often responding to others' (maybe I need a Brick). I went back as a long-term sub for my former high school math department for the entire semester and finally feel decompressed enough to start my post-teaching life again! My kids seem to be a little older than yours and have gotten to the point where they sometimes ask my advice on big questions. And I've gotten to a place where I freely admit I'm not the expert and my life experience is different from theirs now. It's somewhat freeing to know they are resilient and secure young adults who still feel connected to me but who are living their own lives.

This really resonates with me. Thank you—your work has a way of speaking to me in a way that makes sense. And in this case I think the lack of a centralized “point” IS the point, and it’s such a true reflection of life.
